Monthly Archives: September 2008

On Saturday, September 27th, 2008, AU-NYC will be tabling at The 8th Annual NYC Pagan Pride Day in Battery Park.  We will also be giving a short presentation to the Pagan Community.

The festival will be near the Castle Clinton National Monument.

We need volunteers to help man the AU-NYC information table.  The event lasts from 11:00am to 5:00pm, but you don’t have to stay the whole time – any block of time you can volunteer is greatly appreciated!

If you can help, please email us at volunteer@au-nyc.org.

Rob Boston, AU’s Assistant Director of Communications,
will speak at the New York Society for Ethical Culture:

Sunday, October 19

2 West 64th Street at Central Park West
New York, NY 10023

His speech, In Defense of a Secular State, will be presented at 11:15am as part of NYSEC’s weekly service.

Rob Boston will debunk claims that secularism is an anti-religious or corrosive force. Boston will defend secularism as the best mechanism for defending religious and philosophical freedom and explain why the mixture of religion and government is harmful to society.

Recognized as a leading writer and researcher on church-state topics and an advocate for the separation of church and state, Boston joined the Americans United staff in 1987. An author of three books, he frequently
writes about the political goals of the Religious Right and other church-state issues. In addition, Boston often serves as a spokesman for Americans United and has appeared on NBC’s “Nightly News,” CNN’s
“Headline News,” Fox News Channel’s “O’Reilly Factor” and other programs.

The event is free and open to the public.

Please check the NYSEC website for more information about the event.
